Lodge Enamel brings together the Lodge 108 year history of making cast iron cookware with the fine art of enameling. The vivid colors of patriot red, liberty blue, and apple green call attention to the stainless steel handles and accents.
The subtle "L" shaped lid handle with its graceful presentation provides for generous finger room, ensuring perfect balance while handling the lid. The design facilitates removal from the oven to the stove or table.
Lodge Enamel is handcrafted from molten iron in individual sand molds. Each piece of cast iron cookware moves through several processes to remove rough edges. A minimum of four layers of strong, chip-resistant, enamel imported from France,
is hand applied and baked onto its cast iron base. Where the lid and Dutch oven meet, the visible black edge is a special enamel undercoat that is even more chip resistant. The enamel cooking surface is FDA approved.
The enamel coating eliminates the need to season the cast iron, and creates a non-reactive surface that can be used for all types of cooking on all types of stoves below 500 degrees F. Do not however use in the microwave, hand washing is best for perserving the appearance.
